Meet Poppy – a loving 1-year-old female pup from Sri Lanka who is ready to fill your life with joy! 🤍

Her story

Poppy was still just a puppy when she was adopted off the streets in Sri Lanka. Small, trusting, and full of hope, she believed she had finally found her family. She learned what it meant to have a name, a home, and people she could rely on.

Sadly, that promise didn’t last.

When her family decided to move, Poppy was left behind and abandoned on the street. Confused and hopeful, she waited for them to return—until waiting turned into surviving. Life on the streets was harsh. She struggled daily to find food, shelter, and safety, became severely underweight, and learned hunger far too well. Yet through it all, Poppy never lost her gentle, loving spirit or her trust in people.

That is what makes her so special.

Thankfully, her story took a turn for the better. A compassionate woman refused to look away and brought Poppy into foster care in Sri Lanka. There, she finally received the care she had missed for so long—food, rest, safety, and love. She was fully vet-checked, spayed and is now completely healthy.

Poppy later traveled to the Netherlands and is now living in Arnhem, where she can be visited.

About Poppy

Poppy is an extremely social dog who adores human companionship. She loves being close to her people and feels happiest when she’s right by their side. She is friendly with everyone she meets, including men, women, and children—her continued trust in humans is truly remarkable.

Her caretakers in the Netherlands describe her as a truly amazing dog with a loving, resilient spirit. She is absolutely adorable, easy to care for, and a joy to have around. She has adapted beautifully to the Dutch environment and lifestyle and has shown no behavioral issues since her arrival.

Poppy is social with other dogs and has lived with cats in her foster homes, making a home with other pets possible with calm, gradual introductions. She walks very well on a leash and enjoys her outings.

Curious, playful, and full of life, Poppy loves exploring the world around her. From confidently stepping out of her travel crate at Schiphol to discovering new places each day, she continues to grow and blossom.

Poppy is looking for a warm, kind, and secure forever home—one where she will never have to wonder if she’s allowed to stay, and where she will be loved for life.

Because of her adventurous nature, Poppy would thrive in an active, outdoors-loving home—whether with a couple or a family—who will include her in their adventures and give her plenty of love and attention.
